MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

The minutes of the previous meeting on 22 May 2007 having been circulated were passed as a true record of events by Cllr Jackson and seconded by Cllr Blackmore and signed by the Chairman.

MATTERS ARISING

·Website

The minutes of KCC and poster advertising the next meeting can now also be found on the SBC website at http://www.scotborders.gov.uk/life/communitycouncil/20076.html - this will take you straight to the KCC page.Secretary will email the new minutes and poster to the council every month for them to update to their website.

·School Playing Field

Not progressed much since last meeting.Plans for the buildings have been done, now awaiting plans on playing field.

·Information Board

Guy Campbell had sent some plans that were made for the Yetholm board as an example and wrote a letter of apology for not being able to help us with the board.He did offer to help us later in the year if we have not found anyone else to help.ACTION:Secretary to write back, returning the drawings, and thank him for the offer and say we will keep it in mind if we have not found anyone else to help.

·Projector

Cllr Nicol was going to be sending the application to apply for the grant to Mary Pringle.Mary will contact Cllr Nicol to find out if he has the form.The issue of insurance was also brought up as to whether the equipment would be covered in the Institute insurance.Or if the insurance could be void if different people have access to it and use it outside the Institute – worth looking into!

·Kelso Laddie/Jed Callant Visit

Sunday 24th June at 2.30pm.Food, drink and the dancers are organised.Cllr Nicol is unable to attend to make the introductions; another person will have to be found!

·Pavement, Main Street, Morebattle

Chairman delivered letters to all households on the Butchers side of Main Street to ask if they would kindly park their vehicles closer to their properties so that pedestrians could walk past easier.The situation appears to have improved and we will monitor the situation.

·Funding for Morebattle In Bloom

Agreed that £100 would be donated from KCC.Extra plants had arrived this year and agreed that if there were any suitable places at Linton or Hownam, they can be used there.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

The accounts for KCC have been sent to Clare Malster at SBC and the grant for this year should follow shortly.The Chairman has now been added to the account at the bank and can now officially sign cheques.

Michael Scott from Blakelaw has been in contact with the Secretary and would like to be co-opted onto KCC.He will be a welcome addition to KCC and we look forward to meeting him at the next meeting.

The pothole near the Institute is getting worse.Would it also be possible for the council to cut back the corner near the police station, as this is dangerous to walkers? ACTION:Secretary to contact Ronnie Pattenden.

Concerns have been raised regarding the number of sheep loose on the road between Frogden and Linton (B6436).ACTION:Secretary to contact the Inspector David Muir at Kelso Police Station to ascertain the best course of action.

Cllr Cessford will contact Jason Hedley again at the council about the trees at the graveyard.Will also find out if the planning department can help.
