MATTERS ARISING

·Website

Cllr McEwan is looking at two different systems that could be used. One looks as though is could be too complicated for the purpose so is looking at one of the simpler systems.Good progress is being made.

·School Playing Field

A meeting was held with the Eco Committee. They are now at the planning and costing phase.Cllr McNulty is looking into possible funding. All are progressing well.

·Information Board

Secretary has still yet to hear from Guy Campbell.Cllr Nicol offered to get in touch with Guy Campbell to get the project moving further.

·KCC Newsletter

All delivered.Feedback from householders has been very positive.Cllr Nicol congratulated us on our efforts and thought the idea had been a great success. To quote the minutes of the Cheviot Area Meeting held on 21 March 2007 – “Councillor Nicol highlighted the success and complimented Kalewater Community Council on the production of their local community newsletter over the last twelve months.” Further to this – “The Committee commended the Community Council for their hard work and initiative in producing the newsletter and asked that Community Councillor Mr Common relayed the Area Committee’s comments to the other Community Council Members.”A well done to all!

·Morebattle Camera Club

A meeting had been held.Dick Warren is the new Chairman and Mary Pringle the Treasurer. The idea of buying a projector to show the photos taken was brought forward. It was thought the club may be able to get a grant or perhaps KCC could apply for a grant as they have a constitution. After discussion, it was agreed that KCC would try applying for a grant and see if it would be possible to purchase a projector, screen and a laptop.£700 would probably buy a decent projector. Will discuss in more detail at the next meeting.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS

Cllr Hanson had written to the Chairman to ask if the CC would contact the council regarding the pavement on the shop side of Main Street in Morebattle. It was felt that there was a risk to pedestrians due to cars parking on the pavement resulting in them walking on the road. After much discussion it was agreed that before that, it would first have to be established if the council owns the pavement or if the land belongs to the households.Discuss further at next meeting. ACTION:Chairman to bring up the point at the next Cheviot Area Meeting.

Road matters – Pot hole at the top of the village, concern with the trees at Gateshaw House, ditches from Sharplaw to Nickies Ha’ not yet cleaned out.ACTION: Chairman to raise with Ronnie Pattenden.

Still concern with the trees that have been planted next to the graveyard in Morebattle.Agreed to contact Jason Hedley at SBC and give him Cllr Cessford’s contact details to arrange another site visit and find out what can be done.May need to contact the owner of the property being built to ask if they would remove the trees.

Eileen Woodward attended the meeting to update the CC of a plan to plant a tree in the graveyard in Linton dedicated to the memory of Marie Mackie who founded the Cheviot Theatre.A member of SBC has proposed a site and they will buy the tree and plant it.The tree will be Silver Birch and a small plaque will be erected.
